Jess Duffin will miss the 2020 season, announcing she is due to give birth in July.

The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroo made the exciting revelation along with her husband, Chris, via Instagram on Tuesday morning.

"2019 was full of exciting adventures and plenty of wonderful memories," she posted.

"July 2020 is going to be even more special, when our very own baby girl is due."

A super-talented cross-code athlete, Duffin had just completed a successful campaign with the Melbourne Renegades in the WBBL where she became that team's first player to reach 500 runs in a season. She was also named Player of the Season.

North Melbourne will now make an application to the AFL for special consideration to replace the All-Australian ahead of the club's second AFLW season.
