North Melbourne would like to pay tribute to outgoing Tasmanian Premier, Will Hodgman, and thanks him for his support of the club during his time as Premier.

Since his appointment in 2014, Hodgman has worked closely with the club to build elite talent pathways for all Tasmanians, and to grow the game at all levels right across the state.

Highlights include the establishment of the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos, who played their inaugural AFLW game at North Hobart Oval last year.

“Will has been an incredible supporter of the club and always had a focus on providing young footballers access to elite football programs and games,” North chairman Ben Buckley said.

“He has embraced the club and our aspirations in developing local talent and providing a way through to the elite levels, while also servicing broader community objectives.

“Our AFLW team fields nine Tasmanian locals, which we hope to grow in the coming years.

“Through our Next Generation Academy we have been able to invest in local talent and provide them with the best resources and coaching available.

“Will has also been an enthusiastic supporter in helping implement the club’s GOAL! program in 10 schools across the state, designed to engage students in Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths (STEM).

“On behalf of the club, we would like to wish Will and his family the very best for the future and thank him again for his generous support of our club.”
