In what’s otherwise a challenging time for society, the arrival of a new baby brings about a much-needed smile.

Todd Goldstein and his wife Felicity are preparing to welcome a child into the world in the coming days, and while the current situation has provided its challenges, they couldn’t be more excited.

“The (obstetrician) we have been seeing went to some sort of doctors’ tour of Antarctica,” Goldstein told The Herald Sun.

“She was due back this week, but we’ve had to make a late change to another one.

“It’s lucky we are both pretty relaxed people. It hasn’t bothered us too much. Like everyone else, there is so much unknown about all this, and we don’t know what is around the corner. But we’re trying to stay positive.

“Within the next few days we’ll be having a baby, which we’re very excited about.”

Goldstein joked the postponement of the season had provided him a “little bit of paternity leave”, but along the way, also prevented a potential conflict with interstate travel.

North was set to fly to Brisbane in Round 3, around the date of Felicity’s expected birth date.

While his wife was adamant should play, if it came to that, Goldstein said the support from the club was outstanding.

“’Shawry’ (Rhyce Shaw) was great in saying that ‘family comes first’ and if I needed to come back on the plane to get home, he would have supported that,” Goldstein added.
