Irish recruits Aileen Gilroy and Mairead Seoighe have returned to Ireland, following the early conclusion of the AFLW season.

The duo made the trip to Melbourne late last year, signing as cross-coders for the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos’ 2020 campaign.

Coach Scott Gowans said they will be missed at Arden St.

“It was unfortunate circumstances in which the girls had to return home, but we couldn’t be prouder of the way they attacked a new sport,” Gowans told North Media.

“Aileen featured in all of our seven games this season, and while Mairead didn’t get her debut this year, we were very impressed with her dedication.

“We wish them all the very best through this tough time, and hope to see them back in Australia for another season.”
