Trent Dumont has backed the concept of shorter breaks between games, as the prospect of a return to football continues to grow traction.

The AFL is set to make an announcement on plans for a resumption over the next fortnight, upon government advice, and the North midfielder is supportive of the idea of multiple matches in any given week.

"If the season does go ahead I like the idea of playing games more regularly," Dumont told The Herald Sun.

"So, four, five, six-day breaks, almost like an EPL set up ... and I understand that’s going to be hard on bodies, but I’m excited if that happens because it brings in like more of the list and list management.

"Obviously players are going to have to be so much more diligent with their bodies."

The idea of different forms of quarantine hubs has been floated as a potential idea in recent days, but it seems one thing is certain; the 16-minute quarters seen in round one will remain, as the AFL looks to a more agile and flexible fixture.
