Grade five students from Holy Rosary Primary School visiting The Huddle last week were treated to some very environmentally friendly guests.

Senator Richard Di Natale and Adam Bandt MP of the Australian Greens Party spoke to the students in the classroom about the local North Melbourne environment and how everyone can work together to protect our surroundings.

Bandt and Di Natale were extremely impressed by The Huddle and its education programs, as well as the unique mix of community and elite training facilities at Aegis Park.

“The Huddle is a fantastic facility which connects the local North Melbourne community through the education arm of the football club,” Senator Di Natale told kangaroos.com.au.

“The programs not only allow access to this great sporting facility, but the students learn about their local environment and how to look after it.”

The Holy Rosary students spent their morning learning about the Moonee Ponds Creek located just a few hundred metres from the North Melbourne Football Club.

General Manager of The Huddle Sonja Hood said allowing students to quiz parliamentary representatives about the local creek was insightful.

“It was great for the students to learn that both parliamentarians regularly use the bike path along the creek and they connected with the students because they knew the local area very well,” Hood said.

“Our teachers and students were honoured to have Senator Di Natale and Adam Bandt as guests in The Huddle.”
