North Melbourne is committed to playing games in Tasmania this year, GM Football Brady Rawlings says.

The shortening of the season, a two-month hiatus, as well as travel restrictions around the COVID-19 pandemic mean the fixture is very much up in the air, but the Roos are keen to deliver games at their home away from home.

“If the opportunity’s there, we’ll be pushing extremely hard to make sure we get our games played in Tasmania,” Rawlings told Sportsday.

“It’s such an important part of our club that we play down there, and the relationship with the Tasmanian government and Spirit of Tasmania is sensational.”

North boasts an enviable record at Blundstone Arena, having won 16 of its 22 matches at the venue, and seven of the last nine.

“We want to make sure we get the games away,” Rawlings added.

“That will obviously depend on the border restrictions and fixturing as well.

“We’re really hopeful.”
