When the auctioneer yelled, ‘Going. Going. Gone!’ the price of Wayne Carey's locker was a whopping $10,000.
Wayne Carey’s original number 18 locker sparked a huge amount of interest in the lead up to North Melbourne’s Auction Night and some sneaky supporters even offered bids to the club well before the event even started in an attempt to claim it. Resisting the urge, North stayed firm and allowed it to go under the hammer. When the auctioneer yelled, ‘Going. Going. Gone!’ the price was a whopping $10,000.
But it wasn’t the only offering to fetch a massive amount.
A fishing expedition with Ben Cunnington went for $4,000, a chance to train with the team in Utah raised $18,000, the opportunity to have rock royalty Tim Rogers perform brought in $11,000 and a brand new Mazda 6 sold for $46,000 to North CEO Carl Dilena.
The night, themed ‘Burlesque’ at the National Gallery of Victoria, was a sensational hit and the final balance sheet saw the club profit around $100,000.
Which North star would you choose to take the kick of a lifetime? Or do you think you have what it takes to win a brand new Mazda 3 SP20 Skyactiv off your own boot?
