Hamish McIntosh won't have long to settle into the Geelong side before going up against his former Kangaroo team-mates.

Although the fixture is yet to be officially released, AFL.com.au's Adam McNicol says North will host the Cats in the second week, after opening the year against Collingwood.

McIntosh was traded to the Cats after a stint at Aegis Park which spanned a decade.

"Chris Scott's men play Hawthorn (MCG) on a Monday in round one, North Melbourne (Etihad Stadium) on a Sunday in round two, Carlton (Etihad Stadium) on a Saturday in round three, then travel to Sydney for a Friday night clash with the Swans at the SCG in round four," McNicol writes.

Much of the hype is set to centre around McIntosh lining up against his former club.

The clash will be on Sunday, April 7 at Etihad Stadium and will be a Geelong home game. The club's draw is compromised by the continued re-development of Simonds Stadium which won't be completed until late May.

"So that's a really tough start," Geelong chief executive Brian Cook said.

"I'm expecting our boys to be pretty tired by the second and third six-day break."

The last time the sides met was in Round 3 of 2012 and on that day, North ran out the victors with a 17-point win. It was the first time Brad Scott had a win over his brother Chris.
