Brad Scott has opted for an unchanged team to take on Hawthorn at Aurora Stadium on Saturday.

Despite a 58-point lead being trimmed to a three-goal winning margin against the Lions, Scott resisted the temptation to make changes.


“We thought we did a lot right last week. There were obviously some lapses in the third quarter, and a little bit in the fourth, so we’ve got to straighten those things out but largely the guys who got the job done did well so we’ll go with the same line-up,” Scott told kangaroos.com.au.

Aaron Black’s impressive three-goal return last week has seen him awarded another opportunity in attack, while Cruize Garlett will hope to have an impact whether it be in a substitute role or in the starting 18.

“He (Black) came in and gave us something different in our forward-line like we thought he would. His challenge now is to back that up. It’s only his third game now of AFL footy so he’s a really exciting player, and as I said last week he’s really driven, so we think he’ll do the job again.”

“Cruize is a really important player for us against Hawthorn because (Sam) Mitchell, (Brad) Sewell, (Jordan) Lewis, (Liam) Shiels - they are very good inside midfielders so we need to be at our best there.”

Jack Ziebell has had no problems recovering from the soreness which led to him being substituted against Brisbane and is set to take his place in the team.

A late withdrawal from the side last week, Lindsay Thomas again finds himself out of the selected 22. Thomas has been named as an emergency alongside Aaron Mullett and Matt Campbell.

“Lindsay (Thomas) is right to play so he’ll play at North Ballarat this week,” Scott added.

“There are some things that Lindsay’s got to work on and we’re working really strongly with him on those things. Those things are not for public consumption.

"They’re to stay between the coaches and Lindsay, but we’re really clear with Lindsay with what we want him to fix up.

“I’m sure he’ll go back and fix that up because he’s had a terrific attitude so far. He’ll get those things right and I’m sure he’ll come back in soon.”
