Leigh Adams courage
Nearing the end of the first quarter the Power has the chance to extend its lead. Jay Schulz has the ball across half-forward and eyes John Butcher on a strong lead. He puts the ball in the path of his team-mate, but sensing the danger Leigh Adams cuts across and provides aid for Luke Delaney. Adams puts his body on the line and spoils the ball out of bounds.
Daniel Wells roving goal
It’s close to half-time and North holds a three-point lead. Cameron Delaney bangs the ball forward high to the goal square where Ben Cunnington is in a one-on-one contest. The ball falls to ground and Daniel Wells pounces, collecting brilliantly and kicking a goal.
Coast to coast - Drew Petrie goal
From the kick-out the pass lands in the hands of Kieran Harper. Ryan Bastinac runs past for the handball and the Kangaroos are quickly away. The number three spots Ben Warren on a diagonal lead and spots him up as Harper keeps running to receive. He gets it back and after a slight fumble dishes to Jamie Macmillan.
Across the wing, Macmillan gets it back to Bastinac who again dishes to Harper. On the 50m line he’s about to be tackled by Domenic Cassisi but has the presence of mind to take the hit while getting a handball to Drew Petrie. The vice-captain snaps a great goal from 45m.
Jack Ziebell snap goal
On the point of the square, Daniel Wells puts a kick to the lead of Drew Petrie who can’t mark. The ball falls to ground and Jack Ziebell is the first to pounce. He’s immediately put under pressure by the Power players but bounces off his opponents, composes himself and kicks a terrific goal.
Drew Petrie kicks his fifth
North leads by 20 points early in the last term. Jack Ziebell gets the ball at half-forward and kicks to a one-on-one between Drew Petrie and Alipate Carlisle. Petrie is unable to mark and the ball falls to Ben Jacobs who dishes a handball back towards Carlisle. It misses the mark though and Carlisle loses his feet. Kieran Harper knocks the ball out of the contested situation to Petrie who turns, snaps and bangs through his fifth major.
