North Melbourne’s prestigious coterie The Northerners is breaking new ground in 2010 with membership figures heading north at a rate of knots.

The strong membership vindicates the club’s decision to continue with a single coterie group this year and beyond.

“The Northerners is perfect for all North Melbourne professionals who want to become a part of the inner sanctum of the club,” coterie president Caroline Carnegie told kangaroos.com.au.

“It’s the perfect fit for anyone wanting to enjoy great networking opportunities or even just relax with family and friends at the footy (with special arrangements available to cater for children). We have something to offer everyone who is looking to increase their level of financial support and involvement with the Kangaroos.”

The Northerners offer great entertainment as part of its pre-match functions and also hold special events away from football matches during the year.

“This coterie means a great deal to North Melbourne and its members are vital to the success of the club,” North chairman James Brayshaw said.

“It’s great that all North like-minded people can get together, watch the footy and assist the club through their great fundraising activities throughout the course of the year. The Northerners are a well established and extremely professionally run group and I encourage anyone interested in joining them to do so before the start of the season.”

Former North player Nathan Thompson has taken over from Glenn Archer as patron of the coterie and he will be joined by other past greats like Mick Martyn in the group.
