NORTH MELBOURNE coach Brad Scott says the Kangaroos' ability to bounce back after a demoralising round-10 loss to Fremantle is a reflection of their character.

The Roos have won their past two games - despite being heavily challenged by Carlton and the Brisbane Lions - after being destroyed by Fremantle at Subiaco.

Scott was proud of his players' ability to stand up to the fifth-placed Blues and claim an "enormous" 29-point win on Friday night.

"It was a big stage for us and with a young side, to go out and perform under pressure was great," he said, after the game at Etihad Stadium.

"Sometimes young players can get a bit overawed by an occasion but they really focused on the task that we set them and they implemented it really well.

"To stand up under that sort of pressure again when challenged by a very good side was really pleasing."

Scott said the player-driven response to the 61-point loss to Fremantle was indicative of the intent of his group.

"A sign of a champion in any sport is one who can suffer a demoralising loss and then bounce back on a big stage and perform," he said.

"I think it says a lot about our character as a collective."

He also said the past fortnight had greatly increased his players' belief given the way they held off the Blues and Lions after building handy leads.

"Twice in two weeks we've been able to come away with a win when really challenged," he said.

"The last two weeks, opposition players - and very good players - have got on top of us for periods of games.

"As a group and the 22 who represent the football club were really able to get things back on track, and in the third quarter when Carlton was really on top of us, particularly around the stoppage area, we were able to stem the flow and fight back.

"I think it shows great character and the character that exists in this group."

Lindsay Thomas was best afield in Friday night's win with seven goals, five behinds, eight tackles and five inside 50s.

Scott said it was pleasing to see the small forward benefit from solid midfield drive.

"Lindsay is playing fantastic footy and he should be acknowledged for the way he's been playing," he said.

"He's very humble and thankful for the supply he's been getting."
