Roos hopeful of Ballarat gold
North Melbourne is hoping to play AFL games at Ballarat's Eureka Stadium in the very near future.
The Kangaroos are spending three days in the central Victorian city as part of their Telstra AFL Community Camp, which includes an intra-club game at Eureka Stadium.
Scott, along with the North Melbourne administration, is hoping the venue will soon be developed so it can host the Roos' home fixtures against Gold Coast, Greater Western Sydney, Port Adelaide and Fremantle.
"We have a great relationship with the city of Ballarat and it begins with our VFL affiliation with the North Ballarat Roosters," Scott told afl.com.au.
"They're fantastic supporters of ours and we want to push really hard to play a game of AFL footy here for premiership points.
"We think that our commitment to the city has shown out by us holding three community camps here in a row. I hope the city gets behind North Melbourne as well."
Before last year's Victorian election, the then-Brumby Government pledged $30 million to turn Eureka Stadium into an AFL-standard venue.
But the state's new premier, Ted Baillieu, has shown little enthusiasm for the project.
Nevertheless, the Kangaroos are not giving up.
"I know the people of Ballarat would love to see games played here for premiership points," Scott added. "If we can get all those plans to align then I'm sure it can become a reality."
On their first day in central Victoria, the North Melbourne players held a footy clinic for local school kids at Buninyong, a small town located 10 kilometres south of Ballarat.
"I think it's great for the community that they can see their heroes in the flesh," Scott said. "We think that AFL players have a great message to send to the community as well.
"The message is to get out, be active and live a healthy lifestyle. We think the community camps Australia-wide are a great way to do that."
