North Melbourne speedster Ben Speight’s season is over after he suffered a serious shoulder injury on the weekend.

Speight sustained the injury after falling awkwardly after a tackle with just a few minutes remaining in the match against the Bulldogs.

Despite the injury, the 21 year-old went on to play an instrumental role in the club’s win on Sunday after being activated as the substitute player late in the game.

Speight had nine possessions and kicked a vital goal at Etihad Stadium but perhaps his best highlight was a brilliant goal saving tackle on Bulldog Jarrad Grant in the fourth term.

Labeled the ‘super-sub’ of round 17, Speight will now be forced to join Sam Wright, Ayden Kennedy and Matthew Scott on the sidelines for the rest of the year.
