He’s still got a few weeks of official holidays left and can’t even start playing until May 11, 2013, but nothing could stop North champion Brent Harvey from returning to training early on Thursday at Craigieburn.

His appearance didn’t even come as a surprise to coach Brad Scott.

“It’s typical Boomer isn’t it?” Scott commented to kangaroos.com.au shortly after the second pre-season session concluded.

“He was ringing to ask if he could come back, but really he was just letting me know that he’d be back.”

Training with North’s first to four year players meant Harvey was the oldest by 8-years, with Sam Gibson the second most senior player in terms of age at 26.

“He sets an unbelievable example and I’ve always said he’s probably the most elite preparer that I’ve seen play AFL footy,” Scott added.

“If our young guys can learn from him, we’re going to have some pretty professional athletes.”
