kangaroos.com.au says

Opening the year with his 200th game, Petrie showed no signs of slowing down in his 12th season and kicked a career high 58 goals in 23 games.

After a relatively slow first half of the season, he roared to life as North begun its winning streak. Over a four week stretch from Rounds 16 to 19, Petrie kicked a remarkable 23.3 to temporarily lead the race for the Coleman Medal.

His selflessness was also a feature and as the key forward, there were multiple occasions where he would sacrifice his individual game for the betterment of the team. A reward came in the form of selection in the 40-man All Australian squad, however he just missed out on the final team.

Quotes

"He's been a really consistent player for us for a long time. He's played in a lot of different roles - he's had to go into the ruck, he's played forward at times were averaging 45 inside 50's, so you don't get the same opportunities you do when you're averaging 57."
Donald McDonald

"I actually think Drew Petrie is the hardest key forward to play on"
Alex Rance - Richmond defender

"North may never have another Carey, but in Drew Petrie, the Roos had a Carey-like presence in attack."
Jake Niall - The Age
