Strauchanie defects for Aussie Rock
An unlikely recruit was spotted at Aegis Park on Tuesday with high profile football-wannabe Bryan Strauchan meeting up with North Melbourne coach Brad Scott.
However it’s not the first time the pair has met. Scott had numerous run-ins with Strauchan during his time as an assistant coach at Collingwood.
“I’ve been watching with interest. We reckon Strauchanie’s got a lot of talent and we don’t think he’s been getting enough of a go at Collingwood,” Scott commented.
“I haven’t actually seen him out on the field yet, so maybe if he keeps improving there’s a spot for him at North.”
But before that becomes an option, Strauchanie will have to prove his worth on stage when he co-hosts the Aussie Rock on Arden Concert on March 12. And he says there’s no conflict of interest.
“Strauchanie doesn’t really see it as enemy territory. Strauchanie’s full of love,” Strauchanie said speaking in the third person.
“When Brad Scott rang me and said; ‘we need Strauchanie’… I said; “well, you probably can’t afford him, but you’ve got me for a day, what do you want to do with me?” He said; ‘well, let’s put on a concert’.”
With that, the deal was struck and North Melbourne secured Strauchanie’s services for the highly anticipated event with Jimmy Barnes, Noiseworks, Ian Moss and Shannon Noll also forced to share the spotlight with Strauchan of course.
“Strauchanie’s got the rock star looks, rock star attitude…Brad knows that and what better bloke to come along and rock out with Shannon Noll and Barnesy than B.K Strauchan.”
And when asked if there might be the chance that Strauchanie might sing a song or two, the man in question replied “'What about me’ I think.”
Proudly sponsored by RAMS Homeloans’ franchises in the North West, Inner Western Region, Eastern Region and Alphington, Aussie Rock on Arden opens at 2pm and Scott says it’ll be an event to remember.
“North has been massive on community involvement and we think that a concert here with Jimmy Barnes, Ian Moss, Shannon Noll, Noiseworks and Strauchnie hosting it, it’s going to be a great event. Not only for North supporters, but music lovers all over Melbourne.”
