The entire playing list and staff including head coach Brad Scott hit the phones at the BMS Telecorp call centre in Richmond and recorded an incredible strike rate of calls to sign-ups.
Calls went out to people far and wide, but also to those a little closer to home. When Hamish McIntosh's phone rang just several minutes into the telethon, he was unaware that it was actually Nathan Grima who was seated next to him, calling him to renew his membership. A red-faced McIntosh was quick to hand over his credit card details and join up to avoid further embarrassment.
The telethon was held during the build up to North's first home match of the year; a blockbuster against Collingwood at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, April 2.
The game will go close to being a sell-out and club CEO Eugene Arocca recently urged all supporters to get in early and buy their memberships to avoid long lines at the marquees on game-day.
The club's membership is just under 24,000, but is tracking ahead of the same time last year.
