Boomer happy out of the spotlight
North Melbourne skipper Brent Harvey says he is happy he can now move on from his record-breaking 312th game for the club
The Kangaroos captain equalled Glen Archer's record for most club games played last week and North Melbourne lifted for the occasion, beating Adelaide.
This week, when he broke the record, his team again responded, belting Gold Coast to mark the club's first back-to-back wins for the season.
'Boomer' now just wants everything to return to normal.
"It gets a little bit embarrassing when things like that happen and it was the second week in a row," Harvey said.
"It is over and done with now."
Harvey's game was typical of his tireless style of play - he had 29 disposals and four goals in the 59-point win.
As much as Harvey wants to shy away from the spotlight, his coach Brad Scott is happy to place him firmly in the centre of it.
"You run out of superlatives [about Harvey], we spoke to the players about the legacy we think Boomer will leave," Scott said.
"He sets really high standards for himself, I have not come across a player with a greater will to win and if some of that rubs off on our players, we will be a better team for it."
Harvey, ever the perfectionist, can still see areas the Kangaroos needed to improve - namely the clearance count which the Suns won 50-29, despite being outplayed everywhere else on the ground.
"When you come up and play a really young team, you don't know about the outcome, they are a young bunch of kids, really energetic," Harvey said.
"We knew it was going to be tough and it was, it was a really good slog, they beat us in the clearances and contested footy."
In round 13 North Melbourne face a faltering Essendon, in what Harvey hopes will be the Kangaroos' third win on the trot.
He just won't have a milestone to celebrate it with.
