Selection dilemmas
Brad Scott will face one of the toughest decisions of the year on Thursday as he aims to narrow the North Melbourne squad down to just 25 players for round one.
It gets even tougher for the coach a day later with just 21 players to earn a guernsey and one nominated as a substitute under the AFL's controversial new rules.
Injuries have been cruel to the Kangaroos' through their pre-season campaign, but as the first bounce goes down on Sunday the list of casualties is down to seven.
So just who does the coach choose?
There are some compelling questions and arguments to be debated during the match committee meeting on Thursday. For instance can Aaron Edwards, Ben McKinley and Ben Warren all play in the one team? Will Nathan Grima be passed fit to play? Will Shaun Atley and Cameron Richardson make their debuts? And will the club upgrade a rookie like Luke Delaney, Majak Daw or Cam Pedersen?
Even those in the inner sanctum are unable to answer these questions for sure.
