2004
In: Nathan Thompson (Hawthorn)
Out: Pick 10 (Chris Egan, Collingwood), Pick 26 (Matt Little, Hawthorn)
Needing a key forward, North looked towards Hawthorn and Nathan Thompson. While it paid a price with its first two picks of the National Draft, the result was worth it as Thompson became a part of the club both on and off-field in his four years.
Pinch-hitting in the ruck but soon moving to full-forward permanently, Thompson had his two best years at Aegis Park with 52 goals in 2005 and 54 in 2006. He also kicked a career high eight goals against the club that traded him in 2006. A knee reconstruction in 2007 robbed him of one of his final years.
Pick 10 was on-traded by Hawthorn to Collingwood for Chris Egan who played 21 games for Collingwood. Hawthorn kept pick 26 and used it on Matt Little who played one game.
