The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos have selected Brooke Brown with pick 49 in the 2020 NAB AFL Women’s Draft.

A Tasmanian product, Brown joined the Launceston Football Club earlier this year after a number of seasons with the Launceston Tornadoes in the Women’s National Basketball League (WNBL-1) competition.

The 23-year-old boasts a dynamic sporting resume, having played high-level touch rugby as well as being a track athlete as a junior.

At 184cm and with the ability to play as a key defender, key forward and ruck, Brown adds a great deal of versatility and depth.

“Brooke has great range on her kicking and really strong fundamentals for a player who is relatively fresh to the sport,” North AFLW list and performance manager said.

“Brooke has shown the capacity to play through all three zones with Launceston this year, to real effect.

“She has significant upside, and will give us some great flexibility in our squad, both for the short and longer term.

“We’ve had our eye on Brooke for a while, and are rapt to be able to add another talented Tasmanian to our squad.”
