Jordan Russell will join North Melbourne as Assistant Coach for the 2021 season and beyond, taking responsibility of the club’s midfield group.

Russell brings five years of experience in development coaching roles at the Western Bulldogs, before he was promoted to assistant coach for the 2019 season. He moved into a midfield coaching role in 2020.

North GM football Brady Rawlings said Russell is an exciting appointment for the club.

“Jordan has numerous years’ experience in a range of roles, which is really attractive to us,” Rawlings said.

“His strong character along with his experience from a playing and coaching perspective will be invaluable in helping us build on our talented list.

“He is a natural leader and he will be a great asset to our coaching group.”

Russell played 125 AFL games for Carlton and Collingwood from 2005-2013, before transitioning to Footscray in the VFL as a player and development coach. He featured in the club’s 2014 and 2016 VFL Premierships, as captain in 2016 and on-field captain in the 2014 Grand Final.
