He impressed for Vic Metro at the under-16 championships and last year averaged 22 disposals and four tackles in the NAB League. 

At 180 centimetres, Phillips is a robust midfielder who has the ability to push forward and hit the scoreboard. 

“Will had a decorated junior career,” North national recruiting manager Mark Finnigan said. 

“He is an elite ball-winner with good skills and was an attractive player to us for numerous reasons. 

“His inside and outside game, as well as his speed and endurance will benefit us for many years. 

“Will is a relentless competitor who has leadership and a first-class character.”
