Throughout football and throughout life, people have different goals.

For the likes of Charlie Lazzaro, Tom Powell and Will Phillips, heading into the 2021 AFL season, goals of theirs would have been to make an AFL debut, perhaps get their first touch, and the ultimate moment, kicking a goal.

“The adrenaline took over and I pretty much just decided to take a couple of bounces,” Lazzaro said of his first goal against the Western Bulldogs.

“Before I knew it I was inside 50 and lucky enough to kick the ball through.”

Wearing the famous number-29 on his back, Will Phillips’ first goal was reminiscent of a vintage Brent Harvey, roaming for a loose ball at the edge of a pack, before slotting it through.

It was his celebratory jumper pull though, that captured the imagination of North fans everywhere.

“It was pretty surreal. I didn’t really think of the celebration, it sort of just came to me. To kick a goal like that was pretty special,” Phillips said.

Tom Powell is the only one of the three first-year players to have kicked his first goal with a set shot, allowing him to really soak in the atmosphere and treasure the moment.

“I was in a bit of an average spot and I was lucky it landed in my lap,” Powell said.

“It was super loud on the field for me and all the boys getting around me. I’ll never forget it.”

North’s fans are some of the most passionate and committed in the competition.

Through the ‘Keep North South’ campaign and the dogged determination to push back against suggestions of a Tasmanian relocation, it’s clear North’s spiritual home always has been, and always will be, Arden Street.

North Melbourne’s Goals for All affords fans the opportunity to help strengthen the entire club by pledging for every goal kicked by our AFL and AFLW teams.

The club has developed four key causes that individuals can contribute to assist with the club’s strategic objectives and future growth.
