Most significant is the expected return of club vice-captain Drew Petrie. One of the side’s most talented and vital players, Petrie will be looking to put a horror 2010 behind him and run out with his team-mates at Etihad Stadium.
Petrie is likely to be anchored at full forward and settled into the role for the majority of the year. In the past, he has been utilised all over the ground.
Todd Goldstein will have to prove that he’s free of the virus that stopped him from playing against the Eagles in round one last Sunday. The ruckman will be crucial to the Kangaroos’ hopes of an upset win over the reigning premiers with his ability to push forward and kick goals.
Meanwhile Daniel Pratt will be hoping to be named in the side after travelling to Perth as an emergency last weekend. His experience and mature body in defence could be a big bonus to the young Roos outfit.
Gavin Urquhart was forced to play back in the VFL on Saturday for Werribee but the match committee may look to him to inject some pace and explosiveness.
But if three talls come in, who will go out of the side? Tell us your thoughts on who should and who shouldn’t be selected for the blockbuster round two clash with the Magpies.
