North Melbourne’s athlete manager – strength, Alex Moore, will finish up at the end of the month after accepting a role in the National Basketball League.

Moore has spent the past three years at Arden St, after six years in the NBA with the Cleveland Cavaliers, and a stint with the US Ski and Snowboarding Team.

Moore said an offer to return to his home town, Wollongong, was too hard to turn down.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at North, but the perfect scenario popped up for me and my family which gave us the chance to return to New South Wales and work with the Illawarra Hawks,” Moore explained.

“We’ve travelled far and wide as a family, including spending a lot of time overseas, and now it’s time to go home.”

A key member of the club’s high performance team, Moore’s experience will be missed according to GM football, Brady Rawlings.

“It’s hard to find someone with Alex’s experience, knowledge, work ethic and commitment,” Rawlings said.

“His relationships with the players is outstanding. We only have to look back at the extraordinary work he did with Majak Daw throughout his recovery to see how much the boys trust and value him. To get Majak back up and running, let alone playing AFL again, was incredible and is a testament to Alex’s ability and experience.

“Alex has added huge value to our strength and conditioning program, setting up a lot of our young players for long and prosperous futures in the game.”

Rawlings said Moore was fully committed to the club and would always go over and above.

“Alex was one of a number of integral staff members that didn’t hesitate when he was asked to go into the Queensland hub last year.

“We sincerely thank Alex and his family for their commitment to North Melbourne, the sacrifices they have made for the club and for all the hard work.

“He will be missed, but we are equally happy for him and his family to see them return home and settle down for the years to come.”
