On and off the field, Ash Riddell is a natural-born leader, and the explosive midfielder is taking every opportunity to be at her best.

In line with the AFL’s inaugural Women’s Coaching Month, the Kangaroos’ number seven took part in the Victorian Level 2 Coach Accreditation Program, giving her an insight into what it takes to climb the coaching ranks in an off-field capacity.

Riddell said it was an eye-opening experience and one that can help her improve her game.

“The level 2 coaching course provided me with incredible understanding into the skills required to become an elite coach,” Riddell told North Media.

“It helped me to develop my own coaching philosophy, plan training sessions and gave me insight into game day strategy from a coaching perspective.

“I hope that this knowledge will not only help me in my future coaching endeavours but my current on-field performance.”

Riddell placed third in the club’s 2021 Best and Fairest, after averaging 21.3 disposals and 3.9 inside 50s a game.

She was a member of the All-Australian squad of 40.
