Past Events

Freestyle - Round 5

Freestyle took centre stage during the Round 5 AFLW match between the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos and the GWS Giants. Freestyle set up a marquee that invited individuals to put their skills to the test in the ‘Tradie Olympics’. Contestants were tasked with completing four stations as quickly as possible, with the two fastest times going head-to-head for a chance to win a fantastic array of prizes. These prizes include a $200 RedZed Eftpos voucher, a life-sized Dulux dog, a $250 Dulux paint voucher, top-notch DeWalt tools, and more.

Sunday also marked the exciting launch of Zadie Workwear, a brand specialising in women's work attire. The debut took place at The Huddle, where an exclusive fashion show was hosted by ‘The Lady Tradie’ Aimee Stanton. We were honored to have The Hon. Natalie Hutchins, Minister for Women, as our special guest.

Throughout the day, Freestyle was committed to inspiring students and parents alike to enrol their schools in the 'Kicking Goals in Trades' program. Under this initiative, Freestyle will be visiting high schools across Victoria, providing tailored trades and career experiences for students in year 7-12. Plus, as a special bonus, one lucky school will be chosen at random to receive an exclusive NMFC AFLW football clinic right at their doorstep. This clinic will feature AFLW players, making it an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.

Trades Fit Expo

As part of our partnership with the Freestyle – Women in Trades Program, we were thrilled to have been front and centre at the Trades Fit Expo held at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre in May.

The event was attended by almost 3,000 female and non-binary students, career counsellors, and parents. We were also joined by North Melbourne AFLW superstars Jasmine Garner and Jenna Bruton, along with AFL guns Will Phillips and Nick Larkey.

The event also marked the launch of our 'Kicking Goals in Trades' program, where Freestyle will be going out into high schools around Victoria delivering bespoke trades and experience for year 7-12 students.

This is a free program for schools, and to celebrate the launch of this wonderful initiative, any school who registers between now and May 31 will go into the draw to win a Dulux paint pack valued at $900 and a DeWalt Power Stack pack valued at $400.

Freestyle Immersion Night

The Freestyle immersion night allowed young people who attended an opportunity to fully immerse themselves in the trade and infrastructure industry.

The information night introduced role models to look up to in the industry, educators to help you learn trades and businesses who could provide employment to young people.

The immersion night had a range of hands-on activities, a panel of women across the industry, and connection to educators and future employers.
