The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos have heated up their pre-season with a 51-point win over the Western Bulldogs in Saturday's practice match in hot and blustery conditions at Whitten Oval.

The Kangaroos controlled the match from the outset, keeping the Dogs scoreless to half-time while racking up 5.5 to half-time as the mercury climbed past 30 degrees.

It was more of the same in the second half as the Roos ran out winners 8.11 (59) to the Bulldogs' 1.2 (8).

Midfielder Ash Riddell was the Roos’ best, winning lots of ball in tight and then getting plenty of it on the outside.

Competing with Riddell for best afield honours was Kaitlyn Ashmore, who kicked two goals playing off a wing.

Youngster Bella Eddey was impressive on the opposite wing, newcomer Jas Ferguson was a rock in defence and Kim Rennie found her feet in the ruck after some early nerves against her former club.

Emma Kearney was influential, providing great run from behind the ball in her new role off half-back.

The team now has 21 days until the Premiership season opener against the Geelong Cats at Arden St on January 8.
