Mia King’s impressive Round 1 performance against Geelong has seen her rewarded with a Rising Star nomination.

The 20 year old played a crucial role in the eight point victory, finishing the clash with 15 disposals, 4 tackles and an integral goal.

The Kangaroos headed into the final term with a two point deficit, and King stepped up to kick North’s first major of the term after a smart one-two with Daisy Bateman.

Football performance & talent manager Rhys Harwood says the nomination is a deserved reward for King’s efforts.

“Since coming into our program Mia has improved every week, and is developing into a really important part of our team,” Harwood told North Media.

“Mia certainly has some additional responsibility through the midfield this season, and it was fantastic to see her really step up on the weekend, playing an important role around the contest, and obviously her goal came at a critical point in the game’

“We’ve been really happy with her development, and we’re looking forward to her continued growth, both as a footballer and a person, in our program. This nomination is a great reward for her effort and attitude”.
