North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos midfielder Ash Riddell has finished in a tie for second place in the final rankings for AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.

Each week, coaches from both competing teams would vote for their top five performers on the day, with 10 votes being the maximum amount of votes a player could poll in any given week.

Leading for much of the season, Riddell entered Round 9 one vote behind leader and eventual winner Emily Bates. She finished the season tied with Crow Anne Hatchard on 68 votes.

Bates’ eight-vote performance against North Melbourne in Round 9 proved to be the difference, with Riddell’s record-breaking 42-disposal, 10-vote performance not enough to see her catch the runaway Lion.

Jas Garner also finished in the top 10, with the 2020 winner ending the season with 42 votes.
