"Football takes a back seat". That's the sentiment of North Melbourne captain Jack Ziebell ahead of the Good Friday SuperClash against the Western Bulldogs this week.

Both teams enter the clash with a 1-3 record so far this season, and both will be keen to jumpstart their campaigns with a win in front of a roaring Marvel Stadium crowd.

North Melbourne was crucial in the creation of Good Friday football, campaigning to play on the holiday for three decades before playing in the inaugural Good Friday clash in 2017.

While winning is always the purpose whenever his side takes to the field, Ziebell says the main goal this week is to help the Good Friday Appeal as much as possible.

"It's a very important day, not only for our football club but for everyone involved in the Good Friday Appeal. It's a great cause, and it's very unfortunate there's so many sick kids in hospital that don't deserve to be there at the moment," Ziebell said.

"We're very privileged to be able to play on Good Friday and have the opportunity to raise much-needed funds for such a great charity in the Good Friday Appeal.

"It's a big occasion, the Good Friday SuperClash. We're thrilled to be involved again with the Bulldogs and we're really looking forward to putting on a good show.

"It's a big family day, so we're trying to get as many families and kids down as possible and get everyone involved. Get as many bums on seats at Marvel as we can and just raise as much money as possible for such a great charity."

With this clash acting as the Kangaroos' flagship fixture in the 2022 home and away campaign, Ziebell has a simple message for Kangaroos' fans ahead of the contest.

"Come along, bring your kids, bring your mum and dad, bring along everyone you know. We want to get as many people at the game as possible and raise as much money as we possibly can," he said.

"There's going to be plenty of people representing the Royal Children's Hospital here on Friday and, as I said before, we're very fortunate to be involved in this game and pioneer this game.

"We're very thankful to the AFL for the opportunity to play and hopefully raise a lot of money for a really great cause."
