Jack Ziebell will miss the final home and away match of the season, having gone under the knife for a shoulder injury sustained on Saturday.

Renowned for his high pain threshold, the club captain was substituted out of the game against the Crows just moments into the second half.

"Jack had a big hit directly on his AC joint," Head of Performance Kevin White told North Media.

"Subsequent scans determined that surgery would be required to provide structural support to that joint.

"Jack had the surgery last night (Monday) which went well, and has entered a period of rest and recovery before he'll tackle his rehab."

Onballer Jed Anderson has entered the AFL's concussion protocols, and will be unavailable for selection this weekend.

Unless he sees rapid improvement, it is likely Jaidyn Stephenson will also miss Saturday's match against the Suns at Marvel Stadium.

The 23-year-old sustained a heavy hit to his back in the third term last Saturday, which caused the muscles around that area to seize up.

"Attempts to get Jaidyn going with treatment, movement and the bike were unsuccessful in enabling him to return to play out the game," White explained.

"Symptoms at this stage are still at a level causing poor function and mobility with low level activity.

"At this stage, he is in doubt for this week’s game unless there is a significant improvement in the next 48 hours."

Impressive first-year forward Paul Curtis is recovering well, following a shoulder injury sustained in a marking contest in the final quarter on Saturday.

"Paul landed directly on his AC joint which initially caused him a high level of pain and discomfort, especially with overhead movements," White detailed.

"He is progressing well with low-levels skill work this morning, and his discomfort levels are subsiding daily.

"We will look to assess whether Paul is able to function fully in main training as to whether he'll be available for selection."

Todd Goldstein has been a constant for North Melbourne this year, but an ankle injury threatens to rule him out of the final match of the season.

The 34-year-old has been on every team sheet since Round 20, 2017, or 108 consecutive matches.

It is the second-longest active streak in the competition, behind only Collingwood's Jack Crisp (184, dating back to Round 18, 2014).

"Goldy had an ankle inversion episode in the third quarter, among the carnage on the bench," White went on.

"As the game progressed his function declined with jumping and landing activities, but he pulled up well on Monday and turned a corner today."
