North Melbourne has made two changes ahead of Sunday's closing match of the season against Sydney at the SCG.

Josh Goater has been recalled off the back of a 26-disposal and six-mark performance against Geelong in the VFL last weekend.

Fellow defender Luke McDonald also returns to the side after overcoming a calf issue, for what will be his first senior game since Round 19.

As confirmed on Thursday, Harry Sheezel will miss the club's Round 24 game after scans revealed he suffered a fractured cheekbone during Round 23's loss to Geelong.

Winger Tom Blamires has been omitted.

Blamires, Bailey Scott and Oliver Griffin are the Kangaroos' emergencies for the 3.20pm AEST match at the SCG.
