North Melbourne list and recruiting manager Brady Rawlings has offered a glimpse of his plans for a busy player movement period.

The Kangaroos will pursue exchanges for a pair of Fremantle players, while the top selection is on the table for the right price.

"We hope to be heavily involved," Rawlings told North Media.

"We need to improve on the field, and the best way to do that is to bring in some players that fill some list needs and add some experience."

Fremantle tall Griffin Logue is at the top of the Kangaroos' wishlist.

Snapped up with a top-10 selection in the 2016 AFL Draft, the West Australian has played 64 games over six seasons.

Logue was a fixture for Justin Longmuir's team as they returned to the finals for the first time since 2015.

A natural stopper, the 24-year-old spent most of the season helping out in the forward line.

"We see Griffin as a key defender," Rawlings confirmed.

"He's played there a little bit this year, but he's also had to play forward for Fremantle given their tall stocks down back.

"We feel like he can really add to our back six, and for a very long time.

"He's an absolute competitor, and he can play on some serious players around the competition, so we're really keen to secure his services."

Adaptable midfielder Darcy Tucker is another Docker on the Roos' radar.

The North Ballarat export has represented Fremantle in 108 games since he headed west with pick 27 in 2015.

"We think he can help us both on the field and off the field with his professionalism," Rawlings explained.

"He's under contract, so he's in a different position (to Logue), but we feel we should be able to acquire his services as well."

Less than 12 months ago North Melbourne drafted Jason Horne-Francis with the first selection.

The powerful, explosive prospect won a Rising Star nomination and was recognised as the Roos' best young player.

In trying season for the South Australian, he showed glimpses of the power, burst speed, skill and spatial awareness characteristic of the game's most dominant midfielders.

Consequently, Rawlings is most aware of the opportunity cost of trading the top selection, but he's prepared to hear other clubs out.

"You need to be prepared (to understand) the value you place on the pick, in case something comes up during the Trade Period," he related.

"It's got great value, it's a really strong draft at the top end.

"If we keep the pick we'll be getting a really good player in, so that'll be something really beneficial for us to consider."

The Trade Period will commence on Monday, October 3 at 9am AEDT.
