New North Melbourne general manager of football Todd Viney wants to enhance the Kangaroos' reputation as a destination club in the AFL.
After three years away from the game, Viney was appointed to his role in August to work alongside incoming senior coach Alastair Clarkson.
In the latest edition of North Melbourne's Member Q&A presented by AIA Vitality, Viney said that people will become excited about what the Roos are building.
"It’s (becoming a destination club) certainly something that we're striving to become," Viney stated.
"It’s been hard yards for Brady (Rawlings) and his team to attract players when we're sitting at the position of the ladder we are – and we've had some fluctuation in coaches.
"The best thing we can do is create a really strong football department and club, we've got some really special things that have happened at the North Melbourne Football Club, and we need to continue to build on those values that have been instilled in this place for a long time.
"We've got an elite coach who will put in a great footy program and gameplan … and I think that people will see how the wheel is turning and get excited about the future of the club."

"Originally, I thought I'd have 12 months out of football," Viney recalled.
"The 12 months turned into almost three years until Alastair (Clarkson) came knocking on the door for a visit to ask whether I was ready to get back into the AFL system and help him out.
"So, over a period of time Alastair got more excited about getting back into the environment and I felt like I still had a passion to burn."
Viney mentioned that Clarkson, who has not yet commenced in his role as senior coach, has still been involved with the trade and list management process.
"Obviously, 'Clarko' has had a fair bit on, but I've kept in regular contact with him to discuss how we were going with the list and trade period," Viney said.
"He was aware of what was going on through my contacts with him, but it was really Brady, Scott Clayton and his team, and myself driving that period of time, and he's pretty happy with where we're at."
With its appealing potential and latest additions of former Docker duo Griffin Logue and Darcy Tucker, North Melbourne's current playing list is something that stands out to the GM.
"I'm still pretty new, I've only been here for three or four weeks but after looking at the list with Brady I think we've got a really exciting young list," Viney said.
"We haven’t seen some of those young talents play a lot, like Will Phillips who has unfortunately been ill for a period of time, so we've still got a lot of young talent (to come through).
"That 26-to-30-year-old bracket we're a bit skinny on, there's not a lot of depth in that. We have spoken about that and looked to get in some maturity through the Trade Period which we know we got with Darcy and Griffin, so they'll be really important players."
The Kangaroos are also set to add some promising high-end draftees to their list when the AFL Draft rolls around in late November.
"There's some really good talent in the pointy end of the draft," Viney said.
"Brady has done a great job to get picks two and three … so we think that we'll add two really good players that will be future stars of our team."
