The 10 new North Melbourne recruits have been allocated their guernsey numbers for the 2023 season.

This season's guernseys will also see the black numbers make their return. North last used black numbers back in 2016 before transferring to royal blue and occasionally white between 2017 and 2022.

Check out who will be wearing what as each of them look to add to the history of their respective guernsey numbers.

3 - Harry Sheezel

North Melbourne's first selection of the 2022 AFL Draft Harry Sheezel will don the No.3 in his debut season at Arden Street.

After playing 13 games with the No.39 on his back, three-time Syd Barker Medallist and North Melbourne's current head of football talent Brady Rawlings tallied 232 games wearing the No.3.

Rawlings made a name for himself as a tagger in the early stages of his career but as he developed his game, he started to rack up the possessions. He soon locked down a spot in defence but was still able to accumulate touches.

John Cassin wore it over his five-year stint at the club which included the 1977 premiership, while midfielder and 1996 premiership player Anthony Rock added to its legacy over 173 matches.

Through the 1980s, the skilful Jim Krakouer booted 229 goals from just 134 appearances wearing the number.

6 - George Wardlaw

Inside midfielder and No.4 draft pick George Wardlaw will wear the No.6 which is just one of two numbers to be worn in all four of the club’s premierships.

John Dugdale played the entirety of his career with the No.6 on his back. A sharpshooter, the 1968 Syd Barker Medallist kicked 358 goals from his 248 games

It was also worn by Arnold Briedis in the 1975 and 1977 premiership winning sides, while club icon Ian Fairley donned it for 211 clubs including the 1996 Grand Final, after starting his career in the No.37.

Following Fairley’s retirement, Shannon Grant was provided the number and won a 1999 premiership medallion as well as the Norm Smith Medal.

13 - Darcy Tucker

Recently vacated by Jared Polec, former Docker Darcy Tucker will take over the no.13 guernsey.

Initially provided with the No.50, former club captain John Law would go on to play 217 games with the No.13 on his back between 1979 to 1989. A strong and uncompromising half-back flanker in his day, Law's name is now honoured through North Melbourne VFL's Best and Fairest prize – the John Law Medal.

Versatile utility Gary Cowton wore the No.13 over two stints in the blue and white stripes, tallying 151 games in total. He was a reserve during the 1975 Grand Final victory but featured in defence in the 1977 premiership-winning side.

After starting his career wearing the No.40, current forwards coach of the AFL side Leigh Adams donned the No.13 for 102 games between 2009 to 2014.

The number belonged to Martin Pike throughout North Melbourne's premiership winning year of 1999.

01:14

14 - Liam Shiels

Three-time premiership Hawk Liam Shiels will follow in the footsteps of slick on-baller Gerald Eastmure who played thirds and reserves at North Melbourne before making his debut in 1954 in the No.14 guernsey.

Eastmure managed 121 games throughout the late 1950s and early 60s, slotting 129 goals in the process.

The last Roo to feature wearing the number was midfielder Trent Dumont who wore it 113 times at AFL level.

10:30

15 - Daniel Howe

Another former Hawk, Daniel Howe has been granted the No.15.

A genius of the game, 1978 Brownlow Medallist Malcolm Blight made the number famous throughout his illustrious 178-game career.

Blight was a key figure in the 1975 and 1977 premiership sides and his mobility and tremendous marking ability led to him kicking 444 goals for the club, finishing as the leading goalkicker four times and as the 1982 Coleman Medallist with 103 majors.

Consistent, hard-nosed defender Ross Smith wore it 205 times over his career from 1984 to 1996 while Winston Abraham was the number’s guardian for the 1999 premiership.

01:49

19 - Griffin Logue

Versatile defender and former Docker Griffin Logue will pull on the No.19 guernsey, vacated by the recently retired Josh Walker.

Debuting in 2009, Sam Wright donned the No.19 in his second season and went on to play 132 games wearing it, primarily as a defender.

After wearing No.34 and No.28 in 1948 and 1949 respectively, Vic Lawrence wore the No.19 for the next six years, serving his final season as captain.

01:23

33 - Brayden George

Powerful and smart medium forward draftee Brayden George will look to add to the No.33 guernsey's legacy.

Highly touted as a damaging player inside 50, George will fittingly take on the number made famous by two-time premiership player (1996 and 1999) Brett Allison who recorded 219 games and 276 goals in North colours as a dangerous crumbing forward.

Given George's ability to take a strong overhead grab, Roos fans may see another Mark of the Year winner emerge with the No.33 on their back, after Allison's outrageous piece of play in 1991 saw him claim the award.

02:26

37 - Cooper Harvey

While his father, Brent, spent the entirety of his career in the number 29, Cooper Harvey will be eager to create his own prestigious history in the No.37, last worn by defender Kyron Hayden.

Although he's synonymous with the No.7, 1996 and 1999 premiership player Adam Simpson played 65 of his 306 games wearing the No.37 over his first four years with the club.

02:25

41 - Blake Drury

The first selection of the 2022 Rookie Draft will take over the No.41 guernsey.

Wearing it for 52 games out of his 85 with the Kangaroos was Aaron Mullett, who was a solid contributor for the club 2011 to 2017 before he made his way to Carlton for the 2018 season.

01:14

45 - Hamish Free

South Fremantle draftee Hamish Free has been provided the No.45 for his debut season after two years in the WAFL.

The 202cm big man will become the sixth player in North Melbourne history to wear the number and the second in 20 years with Stuart Cochrane the last Roo to have the No.45 on his back.
