North Melbourne's newest recruit Robert Hansen jnr will wear the No.46 guernsey in his debut AFL season.

The small forward was selected with pick No.2 in last week's AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

Originally from Kalgoorlie almost 600km east of Perth, Hansen jnr arrives at Arden Street via Subiaco in the WAFL.

Hansen jnr’s opportunity at North Melbourne comes after the club moved small forward Jack Mahony to its inactive list due to season-ending shoulder surgery.

No.46 was most recently worn by fellow mid-season recruit Lachlan Hosie, who played five games across 2019-2020.

Anthony Stevens, one of North Melbourne's greatest Shinboners, wore the number for 13 games in 1990 after starting his career in No.58 before making the No.10 his own.
