North Melbourne’s Hamish McIntosh had surgery this morning for his injured achillies tendon in his right leg.

Director of Medical Services and Player Pathways Steve Saunders confirmed the operation went according to plan.

McIntosh was admitted to Vimy House Private Hospital in Kew and was operated on by orthopaedic surgeon Otis Wang.

McIntosh had been troubled by the achilles since last year telling kangaroos.com.au that he’d received a ‘knock’ in round 19 which caused it to flare up considerably. He attended the club’s training camp in Utah but was unable to take part in much of the program.

North Melbourne medical staff were pleased with McIntosh’s progress over the pre-season but believed this minor operation would help speed up his recovery.

It’s expected the ruckman will be sidelined for between 6 to 8 weeks while he recovers from the operation.
