North Melbourne's Jack Watkins and Hugh Greenwood have both been named in the 40-player squad for the 2024 VFL Team of the Year.

Captain Watkins, who played all 18 games this season, averaged just under 25 touches per game as well as 6.1 score involvements.

Recent retiree Greenwood was a force in midfield throughout his 13 VFL appearances, laying 10.5 tackles and winning 8.2 clearances per outing.

The final team of 24 players will be named on Monday, September 16 at the 2024 VFL and VFLW Awards. A captain and coach will also be selected.

Players must have played a minimum of nine matches to be considered for selection in the 2024 Smithy's VFL Team of the Year. AFL-listed players are eligible to be selected.
