North Melbourne has selected Werribee VFL product Zac Banch with pick No.2 in the 2025 AFL Mid-Season Rookie Draft.

The small forward joined Werribee at the start of last year and featured in the Tigers’ 2024 VFL premiership win.

The 21-year-old has booted nine goals in 2025, including back-to-back three-goal hauls in Rounds 4 and 5.

In Round 6 this season Banch equalled the all-time VFL record for score assists with eight, in a best-on-ground performance against Frankston.

"He plays a high half forward, small forward role and has a great running ability. He gets up the ground and then he's a bit of a handful when he's streaming back to goal,” North Melbourne Recruiting Manager Will Thursfield said.

"He’s very clean, he's very crafty, he doesn't need much time to make his decisions, and he's a very nice kick of the footy.

"He’s an impact player. Half his touches have ended up in scores, so he's damaging and is very good defensively too.

"He's honest, he'll step in, he'll tackle, he's a tough little man, and he's a pretty infectious sort of personality."

The Kangaroos selected key position player Cooper Trembath with their second and final pick of Wednesday night's draft, pick No.10 overall.
