Nicole Bresnehan will miss the remainder of the AFLW season after sustaining a torn ACL in her left knee at training on Thursday.
The blow comes as Bresnehan was on the cusp of a return from a hamstring injury that has sidelined her since the Round 1 clash against Geelong.
A crucial member of the Kangaroos' 2024 premiership team, Bresnehan played every game of the inaugural flag campaign. Her commitment and leadership were recognised by her teammates who elected her to the club's leadership group for the 2025 season.
General manager of women’s football Erin Lorenzini said the club will be right behind Bresnehan during her recovery.
"This is a cruel blow for Nicole, and for our program more broadly,” Lorenzini said.
"Nicole has been an integral part of our team, both on and off the field. She drives standards, is dedicated to her craft and has shown great resilience in the face of challenges.
"We will be right alongside Nicole throughout her recovery and will look to integrate her into the program wherever possible as we move through the season.”
