North Melbourne premiership star and foundation player Nicole Bresnehan will present the premiership cup to her Kangaroos teammates, should they be successful in Saturday’s AFLW Grand Final against the Brisbane Lions.
Nicole Bresnehan has been given the honour after missing all but one game this year following an ACL tear she suffered in a mid-week training session in the early stages of the season.
Affectionately known as ‘Flash’, she was originally a cross-code athlete and an elite junior swimmer who shared the pool with fellow Tasmanian Ariarne Titmus.
A universally respected member of the playing group, Bresnehan was a premiership player last year, playing every game of the 2024 AFLW season.
North Melbourne CEO Jen Watt said Bresnehan is incredibly deserving of the honour.
“Despite her season ending early, Flash has been an incredible support for the playing group, taking a spot on the bench on matchdays with her natural sense of leadership, calmness, and ability to see the game at a high level,” Watt said.
“Our players look to Flash for support and guidance, and she has turned her misfortune into a not-so-secret weapon for our team.”
“Her selflessness and team-first attitude epitomise what our club is all about, and it’ll be an absolute honour to see Flash present the cup to her teammates.”
North Melbourne takes on the Brisbane Lions in the AFLW Grand Final this Saturday night at Ikon Park from 7.45pm AEDT.
