The North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos are the AFLW's first back-to-back premiers after crushing Brisbane by 40 points in Saturday night's 2025 NAB AFLW Grand Final.

The Kangaroos were impeccable on the game's biggest stage, kicking 9.2 (56) to 2.4 (16) to complete a perfect season and extend their historic winning streak to 27 games.

Eilish Sheerin, an off-season recruit who has added valuable experience to the Kangaroos this year, won the best on ground medal for her outstanding performance that featured two goals, 28 touches and nine clearances.

A champion team that has lifted to new levels this season, the Roos had premiership heroes everywhere you looked.

Superstar captain Jas Garner had 26 touches including the sealing goal in the last quarter.

Tough-as-nails midfielder Jenna Bruton kicked a game-high three goals, sending the Wiggles tune 'Hot Potato' ringing around Ikon Park in tribute to her background as a spud farmer.

AFLW best and fairest winner Ash Riddell led the possession count with 39 touches, a record in an AFLW Grand Final.

At the heart of a defence that repelled Brisbane all night, Libby Birch became the first player to win four AFLW premierships.

After conceding the night's opening goal, the Kangaroos soon got the bit between their teeth in the first half.

Sheerin started superbly, snapping North Melbourne's first on her way to 10 touches for the opening term.

Big ruck Emma King leapt highest to take a big contested grab, then found Bella Eddey in space to put the Roos four points ahead at the first change.

The second quarter started badly and got worse for the Lions as the Kangaroos began to string together chains of handballs to unleash their fleet of fast runners.

Kate Shierlaw started on the half-back flank and ended up kicking from the goal line as Shannon Campbell conceded a free kick then two 50m penalties, the Lion first pushing Shierlaw into the ground, then impeding her run as her frustration boiled over.

Garner set up partner Bruton for the Kangaroos' fourth, before Sheerin pounced to snap home her second and the Roos' fifth.

At half-time, Brisbane had recorded 24 inside 50s to just 13 for the Roos, a lopsided count that would normally indicate a healthy Lions lead, but instead gave an insight into just how poor the visitors had been entering attack, considering they had scored only 1.2 in that time.

Birch was busy gobbling up stray entries, while Emma Kearney and Erika O'Shea kick-started North Melbourne's run from defence.

Brisbane didn't make any structural changes to open the third term despite trailing by 22, and the teams traded goals for a nil-all result.

North Melbourne's pace on the outside – Tess Craven, Taylah Gatt and Amy Smith – was too much for Brisbane to handle, and they moved the ball forward with great effect.

Courtney Hodder and Ellie Hampson were moved into the middle to start the last, with Cathy Svarc starting on the bench and Ally Anderson switched into attack, but it didn't have an impact.
