North Melbourne will be forced into at least one change for Saturday night's Round 3 meeting with Essendon at Marvel Stadium after scans confirmed a hamstring injury for defender Griffin Logue.
Logue picked up the injury in the early minutes of Sunday's match against West Coast at Optus Stadium.
Scans revealed a low-grade left hamstring strain which is expected to sideline Logue for 2-3 weeks.
"Griff presents well with our strength and physio assessments," North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.
"He will build through our rehab program across the next two weeks and have a battery of testing to tick off along the way."
Youngsters Josh Goater (quad) and Luke Urquhart (knee) remain tests ahead of their potential returns to play on the weekend.
"Josh has improved over the last week where we have controlled his exposure to high intensity kicks and overall kick volume," White said.
"He will look to train this Thursday with confidence to be available for selection.
"Similarly, we used last week as an opportunity to settle (Urquhart's) injury. He will look to train strongly this week and be available to play."
Ruck Taylor Goad will rejoin group training and build on-field conditioning in the coming fortnight as he closes on a return from an ankle injury.
"Taylor is making really positive strides," White said.
"He will be eyeing off a Round 5 return to play if he progresses as we expect him to."
The Kangaroos' VFL season begins on Saturday following an opening round bye. The Roos are away to Essendon at the NEC Hangar in Tullamarine. The opening ball-up is at 12.35pm AEDT.
