Callum Coleman-Jones has entered AFL concussion protocols after suffering a head knock during North Melbourne’s 13-point VFL win over Gold Coast.
The ruck/forward will be managed during the early phase of his recovery and is expected to have a clearer return to play timeline after the club's bye this weekend.
Onballer Tom Powell is currently in the recovery phase to assist his groin symptoms that have affected his function over recent weeks.
The midfielder is slated to return in approximately 2-3 weeks.
Forwards Zac Banch (hamstring) and River Stevens (knee) are both on the verge of comebacks.
“Zac is now in the end-stage phase of his reconditioning program where he is now in the process of clearing key parameters of speed, strength, acceleration and kicking on the run at speed,” North Melbourne head of performance Kevin White said.
“He’ll put in a couple of strong sessions this week and look to reintegrate into the full group program next week.
“River has made good strides extending his intensity of football work and running conditioning.
“He’ll have a bridging week this week where he’ll set himself to return to group skills from next week.
"His availability will be determined by how his knee pulls up from our main group training sessions.”
Luke Urquhart is set for a quiet period across the mid-season bye as the young onballer continues to battle a knee issue.
“Luke returned to play two weeks ago from a knee joint issue after stripping back his loading and conservatively building back into group programming,” White said.
“Unfortunately, he pulled up with some soreness recently whereby his body has not been able to tolerate the return-to-play loading absorption.
“Hopefully with a de-load in this period we can get him going again after the bye week with training exposure once again.”
As confirmed last week, first-year Kangaroo Blake Thredgold has been ruled out for the rest of the season due to a foot injury.
“Advice from specialist consultants in conjunction with the slower strides that Blake had been making was to remove time pressures and enable quality and controlled programming with a young developing athlete who is still maturing,” White said.
