North Melbourne vice-captain Harry Sheezel will remain a Kangaroo until at least the end of 2032, after signing a new contract extension.

Sheezel's new deal adds two more years to his existing long-term deal, signed in 2024.

Still only 21 years old, Sheezel has fast become one of the Roos' most important and reliable players.

He has played 81 games in his four seasons since arriving at Arden St with pick No.3 in the 2022 national draft, averaging 29 disposals in that time.

He is already a two-time Syd Barker Medallist, backing up his remarkable win in his debut season with a joint win alongside ruck Tristan Xerri last year.

The midfielder was also the Rising Star in 2023, and in his second season was the AFL Coaches' Association's best young player.

Against Richmond in Round 23 last season, he equalled the all-time AFL/VFL record for most disposals in a single game, gathering 54 touches.

North Melbourne head of football talent Brady Rawlings said Sheezel had gone from strength to strength in his four years at the club.

"Harry's quality as a player and person has been clear from the moment he walked through the door," Rawlings said.

"He is a consummate professional who leaves no stone unturned to get the very best out of himself and the team.

"His leadership credentials were recognised early on by his teammates, who voted him into the leadership group in only his second season, and made him sole vice-captain this year.

"We’re delighted by his decision to further extend his contract, and we look forward to watching him achieve great things with this team in the coming years."

Sheezel's recommitment follows last month's news that his fellow 2022 draftee George Wardlaw has signed a new two-year deal, while forward Paul Curtis will remain a Kangaroo until at least the end of 2033
