The Mazda Excellence Award recognises the standout player of the season, as voted for by the fans.

With the season past the half-way point, North Media has tallied the votes so far, to see who is leading the way.

In what will come as a surprise to no-one, Ben Cunnington holds a commanding lead atop the standings, collecting 21 of a possible 39 votes, and polling in 10 out of 13 games.

Cunnington shared the award with Higgins in 2018, and looks a strong chance to reclaim the title, with second-placed Higgins (10 votes) out for another four to five weeks with a shoulder injury.

Despite missing the first three games through injury, Jed Anderson has earned 7 votes with his tough midfield displays.

Jack Ziebell is level with Anderson, after putting in some strong performances so far in 2019.

Cameron Zurhaar’s rapid rise sees him sit in fifth position with 6 votes, on the back of two best-on-ground performances (Rounds 7 & 11).

Simply by voting for North Melbourne's top three players each week, you could win two tickets to the Syd Barker Club Champion Dinner or a North Melbourne signed guernsey.
